Medieval Institute
Notre Dame’s engagement with the world through its many specialized centers and institutes has strong roots in the 2,000-year–old Catholic tradition. The Medieval Institute eagerly assumes responsibility for studying, teaching, and discussing the important intellectual history that underpins all Notre Dame seeks to accomplish. The Catholic tradition has always been central to the work of the Medieval Institute; it is also a distinguishing trait of Notre Dame's approach to scholarship, one that has historically set Our Lady's University apart from her peers.
The Medieval Institute's graduates have received tenure–track placements at the world's top institutions, both secular and religious, and international scholars travel to Notre Dame to do research in its magnificent library collections. The Spirit of Notre Dame campaign seeks $5 million to further enhance the institute's position as a leader in the field.
