Student Support
Student Endowment in Irish Studies
An endowment for undergraduate students would fund additional opportunities for internships, study, or research in Ireland; an internship program that would place Notre Dame students in Ireland for seven weeks in positions in Irish business, government, public service, politics, or the arts; and an annual competition to support independent study in Ireland or advanced language study in an approved program at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
How can I help? The Student Endowment in Irish Studies can be supported through the establishment of Endowments for Excellence, which can be funded at the Named ($100,000), Prize ($250,000), Distinguished ($500,000), Presidential ($1 million), and Premier ($5 million) levels.
Graduate Student Endowment
A graduate student endowment in Irish Studies would provide a year of support for one Notre Dame alumnus recently awarded the doctoral degree, to teach an undergraduate course each semester while turning his or her dissertation into a book. As the endowment accrues value, it would also support an annual competition awarding short-term funding for current Notre Dame graduate students whose dissertation research requires travel to libraries in Ireland or who wishes to conduct advanced Irish language study in Galway, enroll in summer school in Ireland, or attend a key conference in their discipline.
How can I help? The Graduate Student Endowment could be built through a single Endowment for Excellence at the Distinguished ($500,000) level or through several smaller endowments at the Prize ($250,000) or Named ($100,000) levels.
