Notre Dame’s quest for excellence in athletics was once again validated by its recent sixth-place finish in the annual Director’s Cup all-sports competition, marking the first time Notre Dame has placed in the top 10.
Today, we are challenged to maintain this momentum—that is, to continue playing a leadership role among collegiate athletics programs nationwide and, coterminous with that, to nurture our student-athletes to reflect the highest aspirations and most deeply held values of Our Lady’s University.
But we can’t do it without your support.
Athletics grants-in-aid are one of the largest items in the athletics department operating budget—more than $14 million annually. Our ultimate goal is to provide our 26 varsity teams with the maximum allowable number of grants-in-aid, while directing additional dollars to the academic priorities of Notre Dame.
To that end, a new recognition society for athletics was introduced in 2005: the Director’s Circle of the Rockne Heritage Fund. The Director’s Circle provides an opportunity for Notre Dame to recognize and honor those alumni, parents, and friends who share Coach Rockne’s vision of excellence.
The Director’s Circle offers two tiers of membership:
