Unfailing support, since 1842.

Notre Dame’s 1842 Loyalty Society honors those loyal sons, daughters, parents, and friends who offer consistent, unfailing support to Our Lady’s University year after year. The year 1842 was chosen to mark the founding of Notre Dame and to recognize the uncommon loyalty, sacrifice, and commitment of people like you to the University ever since that November day in 1842 when Rev. Edward Sorin, C.S.C. and seven other members of the Congregation of Holy Cross first set foot on the snow-covered land that would become our timeless campus.

How do I qualify for membership?

Those who have demonstrated a consistent commitment to Notre Dame will qualify for one of three levels of membership:

  • Charter Level in recognition of two to four years of consecutive giving;
  • Milestone Level in recognition of five to 19 years of consecutive giving;
  • Lifetime Level in recognition of 20 or more years of consecutive giving.

Gifts of any amount, to support any area of the University, count toward membership in the 1842 Loyalty Society.

Every dollar makes a difference for the students at Notre Dame. It is not the size of your gift that matters, for even small gifts add up. Rather, it is the strength of your loyalty evidenced by your ongoing and demonstrated commitment to Notre Dame.
