What are Joyce Athletics Grants-in-Aid?
Joyce Athletics Grants-in-Aid are expendable scholarships that provide complete financial support for Notre Dame student-athletes. Donors who make a $40,000 annual, expendable gift fund a student-athlete’s tuition, fees, books, and room and board for one year. A gift of $160,000 would underwrite a student-athlete’s entire career at Notre Dame.
Can I direct my gift to a specific team or athlete?
Your gift to Joyce Athletics Grants-in-Aid can be directed toward a specific athletic team, or it can be unrestricted. It cannot be designated for a particular student-athlete.
Why is my gift necessary?
Most of our outstanding student-athletes would not have been able to attend Notre Dame without financial assistance; indeed, competitive financial aid packages play an indisputable role in securing our brightest and most talented recruits. Yet less than 10% of Notre Dame’s athletics scholarships are endowed. Thus the athletics department relies mostly on expendable dollars like Joyce Athletics Grants-in-Aid to fund student-athletes.
