Regional Development
Notre Dame’s leadership benefactors are served by a group of regional development directors who oversee particular geographic regions of the United States. Regional directors work closely with University administrators and academic deans to identify key areas of need within the University, and to connect them to donors whose philanthropic interests are reflected in the strategic priorities of Notre Dame’s various colleges, schools, departments, and programs.
Many of these priorities are represented in the list of naming opportunities currently available to leadership benefactors. Our regional directors are happy to discuss with you which of these opportunities might best serve both your interests and the needs of the University.
Regional development offices are located on the Notre Dame campus and in the following cities:
- Atlanta
- Boston area (Exeter, NH)
- Chicago
- Los Angeles area (La Jolla, CA)
- New York City
- Stroudsburg, PA

Passing It On
Scholarship recipient and Notre Dame senior Bob Mocadlo is a pretty spirited guy. He has to be, as a member of the drumline in the nation’s oldest, and perhaps most famous, collegiate marching band. An aspiring accountant, Bob is also enthused about putting his education into action after he graduates.
“I want to use all I’ve learned here to become the best, most ethical professional I can be,” he says, “and to do all I can to duplicate my benefactors’ generosity for future generations of Notre Dame students.”
That’s music to the ears of Bob’s benefactors, Jay (’79) and Mary (’79) Flaherty. The couple, who met and married under the Dome, was moved to endow the Mary Hesburgh Flaherty and James F. Flaherty III Scholarship so that students like Bob might be transformed, as they were, by the power of a Notre Dame education.
Mary is the niece of President Emeritus Father Theodore Hesburgh, and Jay is a third-generation Notre Dame legacy. They have three children—including two Notre Dame grads—and, in addition to this scholarship, have supported an endowed professorship in the Center for Children and Families and grants-in-aid for Olympic sports.
