Stephen Theodore Badin Guild
Named in honor of Father Stephen Theodore Badin, who made the first planned benefaction to Notre Dame, the Badin Guild was created to recognize and thank those families and individuals who support Notre Dame by means of a planned gift.
Membership in the Badin Guild is extended to those individuals who have informed us in writing that Notre Dame has been included in his or her estate plans. Upon receipt of such documentation, you will be in enrolled in the Stephen Theodore Badin Guild and availed of all associated benefits.

Notre Dame’s First Planned Gift
In 1832, Father Stephen Theodore Badin, the first priest to be ordained in America, signed the deed for the property in northern Indiana that was to become, 10 years later, the University of Notre Dame.
The Badin Guild was established to commemorate Fr. Badin as Notre Dame’s first planned gift benefactor and to honor all those who, like this generous priest, made Notre Dame a part of their legacy through a planned gift.
Over the years, the University has been blessed with many benefactors who, like Fr. Badin before them, provided an estate gift that would advance the University to new heights of achievement.
