Corporate and Foundation Relations
Over the years, Notre Dame has cultivated a variety of productive and mutually beneficial relationships with corporations and foundations, both public and private, throughout the U.S. and, especially, in Indiana.
Such relationships have netted a tremendous impact on Notre Dame—and, by extension, on companies and communities across the globe as our graduates apply all that they have learned at Notre Dame to leadership roles in the corporate arena, in government, and in the public-interest sector.
In building a collaborative partnership with Notre Dame, corporations, in particular, enjoy benefits that go far beyond the tangible rewards of their gifts: they recruit from us some of the nation’s most able young graduates; receive pertinent advice, research opportunities, and technology transfer benefits; and cultivate increased awareness of their business through invitations to speak on campus and serve on University advisory councils—among a host of other benefits.
Notre Dame representatives would love to talk with you about the ways we can enhance one another’s work. For more information, please contact:

GE and Notre Dame Fight Infectious Disease Together
GE Healthcare, a division of General Electric Company, recently donated three portable ultrasound systems to Notre Dame’s Haiti Program and its partner hospital, Hôpital Sainte Croix, to help detect the devastating and disfiguring disease lymphatic filariasis (LF).
The Haiti Program, under the direction of Father Tom Streit, CSC, and in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, is working with the Haitian government to eliminate LF, which affects more that 120 million people around the world.
“It is our hope that this modern ultrasound equipment will aid in the diagnosis and medical care of Haitian families,” said Omar Ishrak, president and CEO of GE Healthcare’s Clinical Systems.
This important gift is just one of many fruits born of the thriving partnership that has developed between Notre Dame and General Electric. For example, GE works with Notre Dame’s Career Center to hire dozens of our graduates each year and is a generous supporter of graduate and undergraduate financial aid.
Frank J. Lewis Foundation Supports Catholic Identity
The Frank J. Lewis Foundation has long supported Notre Dame’s Catholic identity. For more than 30 years, the Lewis Institute for Campus Ministry Orientation has offered professional training for campus ministers. And Lewis Hall, the largest women’s dorm on campus, was donated by the foundation in 1962 to house nuns pursuing graduate work.
With a $2-million pledge, the foundation further endorsed our mission by establishing the Hesburgh Chair in Catholic Theology, a permanent tribute to President Emeritus Father Theodore Hesburgh and a powerful means of addressing a top priority of current president Father John Jenkins—that is, strengthening Notre Dame’s Catholic identity.
The Hesburgh chair-holder will exemplify Fr. Jenkins strong belief that academic leadership and religious faith are wholly compatible. The chair will also help to attract and mentor graduate students interested in Catholic vocations within the academy, as well as new faculty to work with them and share their faith commitment.
Thus the chair will serve to not only recruit top intellectuals, but also nurture the next generation of Catholic theologians.
