Notre Dame Our Mother Scholarship
Progress Report:
Notre Dame Our Mother Scholarship
Once again, the Notre Dame family has shown that it is second to none, in terms of loyalty and support. Since Father Ted Hesburgh helped to launch the new Notre Dame Our Mother Scholarship in March of 2008, more than $219,000 has been contributed by alumni, parents, and friends. An additional $116,000 in matching funds has been received through the Notre Dame Annual Fund Community Challenge.
In all, a total of $335,000 has been raised for Notre Dame students in serious financial need. Thanks to your generous support, the first Notre Dame Our Mother Scholarship will be awarded for the fall 2008 semester. Check back then to meet the students you helped. Thank you!
Final Report:
Annual Fund Community Challenge (March 1 – June 30, 2008)
The Notre Dame family responded with great generosity to the Annual Fund Community Challenge, which matched donor contributions up to $100 this past spring. The Challenge, which ended on June 30, helped to push the new Notre Dame Our Mother Scholarship past the $335,000 mark.
More than 9,351 alumni, parents, and friends made a gift in honor of the Challenge during the period March 1 to June 30, 2008. Their response was, no doubt, driven in part by Father Ted Hesburgh’s endorsement of the NDOM Scholarship, as well as his candid remarks about the importance of every gift. “There is no such thing as an insignificant gift,” he said. “Every gift to Notre Dame is a great one, as far as I am concerned.”
The University wishes to thank all those who supported this effort, including Challenge sponsor and University Trustee William J. Shaw (’67). While the Challenge has ended, the Notre Dame Our Mother Scholarship is just heating up. Donors will have an immediate impact, as the first NDOM Scholarship will be awarded for the fall 2008 semester to students in serious financial need.
Moreover, the Annual Fund continues to encourage gifts to the new scholarship fund. Learn more at ourmother.nd.edu, or make your gift now at donate.nd.edu.
