Catholic Mission

At the core of Notre Dame’s mission is a defining Catholicity that guides our search for truth and inspires students, faculty, and alumni to lead lives of faith, meaning, and service.
Guided by Our Lady on the Dome, the University’s Catholic character informs all aspects of a Notre Dame education.
- In most of the 46 chapels on campus, Mass is celebrated daily.
- Students can deepen their connection to the faith and to one another through 25 types of retreats offered throughout the year.
- The Catechist Formation Program enables Notre Dame students to train and teach as youth ministers.
- In the Master of Non-Profit Administration Program, students explore topics ranging from Catholic social thought to non-profit accountancy.
- Almost 10,000 Grotto candles are lit in an average two-week period.
